Perton Hammers 1:1 Stonnall Juniors
Another contrast from last week’s brilliant performance.
We limped through this game with starting injuries to Charlie and Sedgy with Alex ill, this left us with just 11 to start the game.
Everyone’s efforts were greatly appreciated, however, what we work on in training and the way you are playing in training sessions is brilliant, unfortunately we don’t seem to take this into our games week by week.
You have to remember your roles and responsibilities throughout the entire game.
Basics we struggled with at times – five foul throws, which gave away possession, not finding a player with the ball – to just kick the ball with little or no direction is not how you keep possession.
We worked a lot on Saturday about first touch, again this alluded us many times during this game.
With Ben going off injured shortly after half time left us with only 10 players. On a big pitch like this you deserve credit.
One positive – our corners are starting to pay off with Dylan on the score sheet again, 2 in 2 now Dylan, brilliant aggressive header.
Lets regroup on Saturday, have our usual chat. Your input is crucial as ever as to what we could’ve done better.
Apology from me to players and parents.
During a game I kick every ball, I win every header, I score every goal and save every shot. That’s the passion I have for these lads, when they score I’m jubilant, when they concede I’m sad for them.
I know how hard this team work in training and what they are capable of in games.
If my body language showed deflation yesterday – it was because I know what these three remaining games mean to the lads.
I decided to share this week’s award with Harry and Tom.
Harry made some great hard tackles, tracked back won the ball and drove forward.
Tom played at right back in this game and gave good support and balance to Dylan at centre of defence. Won all of his tackles and stayed calm when under pressure.
Well done Tom and Harry.
Thank you to Squiggy for standing in for me.
Me and Sedgy could here you shouting support for the team.
Me and Sedgy can see a lot of what’s happening from the side lines, we didn’t keep the ball many times and didn’t press in the right way.
We seem afraid to tackle!
