U12s Match report: Stonnall Juniors 3 – 2 Tipton Youth

Stonnall Juniors 3 – 2 Tipton Youth
Goals from DJ, Charlie, Ashley.
MOTM awarded to Charlie by Barry (DJ’s grandad) well done Charlie for a great midfield performance and thoroughly deserved solo goal.
A fantastic performance and display of football today lads, with respect to Tipton the points were thoroughly deserved. We talked, we stayed compact and we used out lets well when needed, balance of defence was much better – when one pressed, one supported and the other gave a balance with vision, all that we’ve talked about you demonstrated in the game today.
Three excellent goals – well done to Ash for scoring on his debut with a neat strike from the right side of the box to the far corner.
Midfield dictated by dominating the space allowing us to pick up and attack quickly.
A very pleasing game to watch and an excellent bunch of boys to coach.
Well done!
Have a good week, see you Saturday 0930.
Neil & Wayne

Mahal FC 2 – 3 Stonnall Juniors U12s

Mahal FC 2 – 3 Stonnall Juniors U12s

Stonnall Juniors goals from Benno, Zak, DJ.
MOTM awarded by Dave Sixsmith to DJ – worked tirelessly on the right wing, dangerous going forward and as effective tracking back, DJ was awarded to Respect shirt kindly given to us by the Staffs FA. Well done to Mahal for giving Stonnall their hardest game. Brilliant defending by them and quick going forward posed us some difficult times.
We played some great football again – the really pleasing thing was everyone was talking and encouraging each other, that made the difference today. Well done to Benno and Zak for getting on the score sheet for the second week, and to DJ for a Rooney style lob from distance to beat a retreating keeper.
Defenders – the first thing to remember is your position and duty, stay on your feet and look around you and don’t ball watch which is causing you to drift out of position. HEADERS!!!
For the majority of the game we played some very attractive football that the supporters seemed to enjoy.
Let’s keep working hard – commitment and discipline.
See you Saturday 9.30

Match report U12s: Hamstead Diamonds 2 – 6 Stonnall Juniors

Hamstead Diamonds 2 – 6 Stonnall Juniors
Goals from: Benno 2, DJ 2, Mac 1, Zak 1
MOTM: I have decided to award both Benno & DJ with the MOTM award for today’s game. Benno for coming on at half time and showing 100% determination and scoring two well deserved goals. DJ for his two goals but more so for his working back when his team lost possession. Well done to you both.
With the greatest respect to Hamstead Diamonds we were a little lack lustre today. We played one passage of football from the recent training field work. We are still not talking to each other – we really have to communicate. Well done to Hamstead for battling hard through our defence and getting their goals, again with respect we can’t afford to defend like we did today also to many players hanging on to the ball to many times getting dispossessed to many times!
Overall you deserved the result you got today. Points in the league are always welcome, however, from a coaching point the performance is more welcoming in terms of player/team progress.
See you Saturday 0930 – 1200

Stonnall Juniors U10s – September summary

Stonnall Juniors U10s

Stonnall Juniors U10s

September has been a pleasing month for Stonnall Juniors U10s with some tough tests against strong teams. The month included a five match unbeaten run – although, as ever, results are just a secondary product of player development, the latter taking precedence.

Our team topic for this month has been defending and heading, so it has been pleasing that – as nine-year-old players – we have conceded far fewer goals this month and are looking difficult to break down. That, coupled with our first headed goal from Louis – and a second headed goal at futsal later that week – shows that we are taking what we learn at training into our matches. Pitch time is high throughout the team: minimum pitch time is running at 66%.

A hat-trick from Josh – who has generally played in defensive roles to date – was also good to see, as was an overhead kick from Bryn which was only just saved by the keeper. Two of our players are also practising with the WBA shadow academy this month which is testament to their hard work and development. Team-wise we are developing fast and the monthly futsal tournament is helping quicken our decision making and sharpen our ball skills. The continued use of Sir Clive Woodward’s Captured has helped us consolidate our ideas away from training.

Keep up the good work for October 🙂

Match report – Cannock Town 1 – 13 Stonnall Juniors U12s

Sunday 20 September 2015

Cannock Town 1
Stonnall Juniors 13

Goals from Charlie 5, Mac 3, Ethan 2, Harry 1, Jacko 1, DJ 1
MOTM awarded by Pete Hatch to Charlie.

Well done to Charlie and Mac on your hatricks.
Congratulations to Jacko who came on with 20 to go played some great touches and got himself a goal for his new team.
Played some exciting and attractive football today lads, from training midweek and Saturday we took to the game today. Positions and awareness were much better along with more aggression and COMMUNICATION!
Players are starting to work well together in the thirds (def – mid – up front) recovery runs were there along with communicative cover.
One parent who can’t always come to watch our games came today – his comments were a credit to you all – he said he couldn’t believe how much you’ve progressed and was particularly pleased with your passing game and determination.
Well done lads let’s build on this performance.
Just one thing to remember – we must remember our positions and not all try and get on the score sheet; remember discipline!

Match report – Cresswell Wanderers 3 – 3 Stonnall Juniors U12s

Sunday 13 September 2015

Cresswell Wanderers 3
Stonnall Juniors U12s 3

Goals from Mackenzie, Benno, DJ
MOTM: Ethan

End to end game from start to finish.
Great football played by both sides with very good defending from Cresswell.
Congratulations to Benno on scoring his first ever goal for his new team – well done Benno from all at Stonnall Juniors.
We played some very promising and attractive football lads which is pleasing as this is coming from the training ground, one thing we’re leaving at the training ground though is communication.
Last two games we have conceded 4 goals from lack of communication or assuming someone else is dealing with something they thought someone else was dealing with!
Strength is coming in midfield area – don’t forget positions lads and early recovery runs.
Fantastic game played at right wing back by Ethan truly deserved MOTM well done little Finbo!

Match report – Lane Head Bullets 2 – 2 Stonnall Juniors U12s

Sunday 06 September 2015

Lane Head Bullets 2
Stonnall Juniors U12s 2

Harry, Mackenzie
MOTM: everyone

Great game played in great spirit end to end action.
Had the pitch not been in such an awful condition this would’ve been a fantastic game of pass and move and inter link passages of play. It was evident you were trying to play as we have worked in training and that’s a credit to you all. Each one of you played a positive energetic role, very pleased with you lads.
Some great defending from the back three of Ethan, Tom, Harry along with some excellent saves from James – distribution and kicks where excellent.

Midfield with wingers showed strength, determination and creativity giving Mac his excellent ‘calm’ goal who also showed great strength in his individual battles. Jack, Wil, Zak, Benno all came on and played a great game to add where others had left off.

Very unlucky not to have 3 points but what a great game you played. This must be built on now!
